2025 Local Prize Money
Only those runners who reside in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Hernando, Manatee & Sarasota Counties on a full-time basis (365 days a year) will be eligible to compete for the Local Prize Purse. Prize money will not be awarded until full-time residency is verified.
PGDC Local Prize Money Qualification
Who qualifies as a full-time resident?
To recognize the Tampa Bay Area running community, the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association awards a 15K and Half Marathon Local Prize Purse.
To be eligible for the Local Prize Purse, runners must reside in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Hernando, Manatee, or Sarasota Counties. They must have lived there continuously for at least one year (365 days) before the current Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic Race Weekend.
This must be an actual place of residence, not just an address where mail and/or official documents are sent. A driver’s license, voter registration card, vehicle registration, and proof of employment will be required for verification.
College or graduate students attending school in the Tampa Bay Area but with permanent residences elsewhere do not meet these residency requirements. Exceptions to this rule are:
Members of the military who are stationed in the Tampa Bay Area but are on assignment elsewhere.
Please Note: USA Citizenship is not a requirement for residency. If they meet the residency requirements listed above, foreign nationals are eligible for the 15K and Half Marathon Local Prize Purse.
